Put Your Rubbish To Work

Tonnes of rubbish are collected from Knox homes every week. A lot of this can be reused and recycled. So choose the right bin and put your rubbish to work!

Additional bin service - Storm response

Please be aware that if you have extra fridge & freezer food waste as a result of power outages during the recent storms, you are able to arrange for a second waste collection. Please contact our Customer Service on 9298 8000 to lodge your request. Also remember if you don’t have a green waste bin, you can bundle tree branches or add them into your own container ready for the fortnightly collection.

Use of Waste Collection Services Policy

Council adopted the Use of Waste Collection Services Policy which came into operation on 1st July 2020. It was adopted following an extensive review and consultative process.

The purpose of this policy is to;

  • Define the legal responsibilities of owners and occupiers of properties that use council supplied bins.
  • Define the way council supplied bins must be presented to be collected.
  • Reduce amenity issues and litter caused by poor presentation and use of council waste services.

This policy is to be used in conjunction with the Knox City Council Amenity Local Law 2020, and Eligibility for use of Waste Collection Services provided by Knox City Council.

This policy applies to any residential or commercial premise that utilises the waste collection services provided by Knox City Council. This includes all landfill, recycle, green waste and hard waste services.

This policy does not apply to non-Council waste collection services. When a planning permit requires a Waste Management Plan it must be approved by Council. The services provided must comply with the Waste Management Plan.
