New community dining spaces to support local businesses

We have transformed our local shopping areas by creating new community dining spaces to support Knox businesses.

This business recovery project is part of the Outdoor Dining Program, a joint initiative between Council and State Government.

Eight circular outdoor dining pods have been installed across Knox to help food businesses, especially take away shops, attract more customers, and encourage residents to buy locally.

The sheltered dining pods provide modern spaces for locals and visitors to gather and enjoy local cuisine in the open air.

The unique loop design is a great addition to our local streetscape at Mountain Gate Shopping Centre in Ferntree Gully, Alchester Village in Boronia and The Basin Triangle.

Through Outdoor Dining Program, restaurants and cafes in Wantirna, Wantirna South, Bayswater, Boronia and Ferntree Gully have adapted their business to outdoor dining to increase seating capacity while maintaining physical distancing.

The new community outdoor dining spaces will support more Knox businesses in our shopping areas.
