- Ready, set, play! 2025 local playground upgrades
We’re excited to showcase the playground upgrades completed across Knox this year, providing improved facilities and more opportunities for safe, accessible outdoor activity in our local neighbourhoods.
The following areas have been upgraded with new or renovated play equipment for children of all ages to enjoy:
- Roselyn Crescent Reserve, Boronia
- Sovereign Crest Reserve, Rowville
- Knox Park Athletics, Knoxfield
- Knox Gardens Reserve and Coleman Road Reserve, Wantirna South
Common equipment added includes multi-feature play structures, double swings, spinners, and new park furniture such as seating and picnic tables. Unique equipment at each location includes a native-themed custom agility trail at Roselyn Crescent Reserve, a large climbing net and basketball shooting area at Sovereign Crest Reserve, a native bush hut at Knox Gardens Reserve, and a flying fox at Coleman Road Reserve.
Small-scale playground works also completed this year include upgrades to Glenbarry Road Reserve, and Pimpala Court Reserve in Wantirna, Collendina Crescent Reserve, Scoresby, and Glenfern Park, Ferntree Gully.
All upgrades have been delivered through Council’s 2024-2025 Playground Renewal Program.
Local playgrounds are small pockets of play space and parkland where children can enjoy the outdoors, be active, play, and socialise close to home. Knox currently has over 200 local playgrounds. Each one is independently assessed against Australian Playground Standards and checked for safety, accessibility, and play value. Every financial year, upgrades to equipment and landscaping are prioritised and scheduled based on the audit results.
We look forward to families rediscovering and enjoying the new features in our latest upgraded playgrounds.
Future works to improve more of our local playgrounds will soon be scheduled and delivered across 2025 and 2026.
