Gilbert Park upgrades
Since 2020, Knox City Council has upgraded Gilbert Park. We have improved:
- the skate pavilion
- fencing
- sports lighting
- the play space
- the batting cage.
These upgrades are key initiatives in the Gilbert Park Masterplan, which Council adopted in 2018.
We have completed construction on one of the last initiatives in the Masterplan. This includes:
- a new wetland
- a viewing platform
- carpark upgrades
- skate and BMX park extension.
The wetland provides many community benefits, including:
- supporting the environment
- managing stormwater
- enabling recreational activities.
About Gilbert Park
Gilbert Park is located at the corner of Gilbert Park Drive (off Ferntree Gully Road) and Forbes Close in Knoxfield.
The park is accessible by bus on Ferntree Gully Road opposite the shopping centre or via bike paths.

- public toilets
- a playground (located at the baseball fields adjacent to the park)
