Community training: managing challenging situations.

Facilitator: Non-Profit Training

Date and time: Thursday 9 October 2025, 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Venue: Knox City Council, Civic Centre, 511 Burwood Hwy, Wantirna South VIC 3152

In your community group, club or organsation, it may be possible that volunteers have to assist or control escalating situations. It is important to understand the best way to handle a member or volunteer whose behaviour becomes challenging. These interactions can cause undue stress on volunteers and can drive members and volunteers away from your group if adequate training and/or support is not provided.

We will explore ways in which committees and volunteers can learn to navigate a successful pathway through challenging situations. Come along and find out what tactics, tools and processes can be used to help diffuse a tense situation.

Learning outcomes:

  • Why challenging behaviours might occur
  • Indicators that a situation is becoming challenging
  • De-escalating tense and challenging situations
  • Debriefing and selfcare.
