- Have your say on the future of mobility and access in Knox
We have developed the draft Knox Mobility and Access Action Plan 2025-2035 (KMAAP) based on your feedback and want to know if we’ve got it right. Have your say on the draft plan by 12 October 2025.
The draft KMAAP outlines how we intend to improve public spaces and places by making them more accessible, safe, convenient, and comfortable for people with a disability or mobility requirements. It is a long-term strategy that will guide and prioritise investment in:
- Developing accessible car parking by adding more spaces and connections to paths and nearby facilities.
- Improving footpaths by building more and making existing ones safer to use.
- Making it easier to get to places like shops, buildings, services, and public transport, with safer crossings and better wayfinding signs.
- Adding helpful features like benches, resting spots, and shade from trees to make it easier for everyone to get around.
- Using accessible and inclusive design principles when planning and building new infrastructure.
In early 2024, we asked the community to provide insight into their travel habits and the challenges faced when using roads and paths and travelling to and from key destinations in Knox. This was achieved via an online survey, in-person workshops, consultation with advisory groups, site visits with impacted community members, and audits of areas such as The Basin Triangle, Rowville Community Centre, Scoresby Village, Wantirna Mall, Knoxfield Shopping Centre and Ferntree Gully Activity Centre.
We would like to know if the plan we have drafted meets the needs of our community. Whether you have a disability or mobility requirements, care for someone who does, use a pram, or are simply thinking about future accessibility — we want to hear from you.
You can have your say online, by mail, by phone, or by chatting to us in person. If you have a support person, you’re welcome to go through the questions together and they can help submit your responses.
