- Is an electric vehicle for me?
With petrol prices rising, you may consider buying an electric car in the future. Andrew Reddaway from Australian Energy Foundation will share advice on EV ownership in a webinar on 15 June.
Buying a new car is an important decision for households. This informative webinar will help you understand what it means to own an EV to help with your decision making.
Topics covered in the webinar include:
- how an EV compares to a petrol-based car (i.e. price, running costs, travel range, and longevity)
- how and where to charge an EV
- setting up your home for an EV
- EV emissions compared to other modes of transport
- rebates available when buying an EV
- future trends in the EV market
This initiative is supported by our Climate Response Plan 2021-2031, which aims to reduce greenhouse emissions in our community to net zero by 2040.
The plan outlines how we will support our community’s transition to lower emission transport options, including expanding our EV charging network and exploring car share programs. Plans to install more EV charging stations in Knox are currently underway, more information will be available in the coming months.
We are proactively reducing our car fleet emissions, which contribute to around 9% of our emissions profile. Our Council Fleet Policy will be reviewed to incorporate sustainable technologies. We plan to transition our passenger pool vehicles to all EVs by 2025. Learn more about our climate actions on our Energy efficiency and greenhouse emissions web page.
