Last chance to nominate an everyday hero

Nominations for the 2022 Knox Australia Day Awards closes on 22 November. These Awards are a great opportunity to recognise the work and generosity of a local community champion.

We are looking for people who, in their everyday lives, are making a positive difference to others.  This can be through volunteering their time, reaching out to people in need, or simply working to build a healthier and happier community.

Eve John, the recipient of last year’s Local Hero Award, is a prolific fundraiser and advocate for women and children.  Eve was nominated for her tireless support and mentoring of women setting up their own business.  She also runs the free Women Talking Business program which provides a space for women in small businesses to meet.

She was also recognized for her work supporting the victims of family violence.  As an Ambassador for Impact, a charity for women and children fleeing extreme violence at home, Eve is heavily involved in fundraising and activism.

Ever humble about her ability to inspire and improve the lives of others, Eve says she just wants to give back to those who have given her so much in the past, “when I look at the things I do, I owe Knox and the community so much more than I could ever, ever give them.”

We welcome nominations for the following categories:

  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Elder Citizen of the Year
  • Local Hero
  • Sustainability Leadership
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year.

Nominations can be made by completing the online form by 22 November 2022. Winners will be announced online on Australia Day, Wednesday 26 January 2022.
