- Improving Ferntree Gully Cemetery
We are proposing improvement opportunities for Ferntree Gully Cemetery to better meet community needs. Have your say by 7 September.
Ferntree Gully Cemetery was established in 1873 on 5 acres of Crown land. Knox Council took over responsibility as a Trustee of the cemetery in 1982 to manage cemetery operations.
We have developed a draft masterplan, following community engagement in 2024 where we received a total of 131 submissions.
Your feedback is invited on the proposed opportunities in the draft masterplan, which includes:
- redesigning areas to create more memorial options, this includes the fountain area, and garden beds
- reducing the width of some paths to 2.4m, to extend garden bed memorials
- creating a new entrance to improve access and increase visitation to the cemetery
This is your opportunity to share your views on the proposed opportunities, including what you like the most, and what you like the least.
We are developing the Ferntree Gully Cemetery Masterplan to better meet community needs and fulfill our ongoing obligation to maintain the cemetery.
The cemetery is at full capacity and there is community demand to develop more ashes positions and memorialisation opportunities. The draft masterplan is proposing various opportunities to address this need.
There is no proposal however to change the land size of the cemetery, or the current land zoning and planning controls.
Join us at our drop-in session at the cemetery to chat about the proposed opportunities.
Further information on the consultation is available on our Have your say website.
Drop-in session
Date: Saturday 6 September
Time: 11.30am to 1.30pm
