Explore Boronia’s new shared path

Head to central Boronia to enjoy a bike ride or stroll along the newly upgraded shared path on Genista Avenue and Chandler Road.

The revitalised route, together with upgrades to Chandler Road, now offers pedestrians and cyclists safer and easier access to shops and local facilities.

The improved path network extends from Genista Avenue, up to Dorset Road intersection and along Chandler Road up to Albert Avenue. The works mark the completion of stages 1 and 2 of the Chandler Road shared path and road renewal project.

Stage 1 delivered new road and path markings, upgraded shared use paths and roads, and driveway adjustments around Genista Avenue. Stage 2 improved the walking and cycling path along Chandler Road including road crossings.

Overall, the shared path was widened to improve accessibility, while some sections were kept at their existing width to safely navigate around well-established trees and plants.

Pavement and road improvements to Chandler Road were also delivered, making it safer for vehicles to access Dorset Square and travel up to Chandler Park where many sports and community activities occur.

The third and final stage of this project is scheduled to take place in 2026/27, subject to future funding, and will focus on planting along the shared path route to enhance the existing greenery.

This upgrade is part of the Boronia Renewal Strategy. The strategy was developed in consultation with community and focusses on reducing car dependence, easing congestion in Boronia and improving access to local amenities.
