Plant your feedback on the plan for Miller’s Homestead gardens

We have developed a horticultural and landscape plan to guide how we improve and manage the gardens at Miller’s Homestead from now and into the future. Have we got it right?

Miller's Homestead is a single storey Victorian residence on the corner of Melrose Court and Dorrigo Drive in Boronia that dates back to 1888. The gardens are a valued green space within the community, supporting cultural activities, library services, and offering a unique area for relaxation and recreation. They are also home to historical features including a magnificent Waterhousia floribunda specimen and Camellias dating back to the early days of the homestead.

The proposed 10-year plan will make the gardens easier to maintain while preserving their historical character and creating a more usable space for everyone to enjoy. Actions include:

  • Improving the health and vibrancy of the gardens by selecting climate-appropriate plants and introducing more colour
  • Removing environmental weeds
  • Making the gardens more enjoyable for visitors with new features like a children’s garden, an edibles garden and educational plant labels
  • Protecting and preserving the historical elements of the gardens
  • Incorporating more efficient ways for gardening staff to maintain the site such as drainage improvements and a new irrigation system

Your feedback is invited on the plan to ensure it meets community needs and expectations.
