Community help shape priorities for 2026-2027

Planning has started for the 2026–2027 financial year, and the community have shared what services they most value and the actions they believe best meet the needs of our community,

This engagement ran from the 28 July to 24 August 2025, which is earlier than previous years to allow the community’s views on Council’s priorities to better inform the annual planning and budgeting work.

Our 2026-2027 Annual Plan and Budget engagement had three distinct purposes:

  • To inform our 2026-2027 Budget and future budgets

  • To inform the Council and Health and Wellbeing Plan year two actions and performance measure targets

  • To inform our annual service planning program for 2026-2027.

This work will also be informed by:

  • Engagement results from the Council and Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029

  • Changes to the external environment including reforms, cost of living changes, population trends

  • Legislative requirements, service planning and reviews and community data.

Engagement activities included an online survey, pop-ups at locations across the municipality and targeted activities including engagement at our Childhood and Family Centres, Youth Summit and representation from all nine Advisory Committees through a Multi-Advisory Committee Workshop.

The engagement process resulted in 594 responses from the community, with eight members of the community seeking to make formal submissions to councillors.

In April 2026, the draft Budget 2026-27, including the Council and Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029 year two actions and performance measure targets will be shared for community questions. The Budget 2026-27 will be presented to Council for consideration of adoption in June 2026.
