Holiday habits

While the summer holidays are typically a time to celebrate with family and friends, we know this time of the year can be stressful for some people. Here are a few tips to keep in mind as we wrap up the year and focus on what matters most.

Keep hydrated with water
Many of us don't consume enough water in our day-to-day life, and this can be made worse when we're busy, especially during the busy summer months. To ensure we remain hydrated, especially in warm weather, remember to drink water throughout the day, aiming for 2 litres per day.

Be active
Moving our bodies is an important thing we can do each day; it’s also a great way to be social and improve our mental health. Getting out and about, such as going for walks with others, or getting into the garden is a holiday habit that can boost our wellbeing.

Holidays are also a great opportunity to try something new in the community. While being outside in nature is very beneficial, it’s important to always be sun smart and remember to wear sunscreen and protective clothing including a hat and sunglasses.

Mental wellbeing
Holidays are a time to connect with others, but it’s important to also take time to do things that make you feel good.

This could be spending time with family and friends, with pets or by yourself doing activities you enjoy.

While this time of year can be stressful, remember to try to do what's best for you and appreciate the moments that make you smile, and reach out if you need support - Mental health and wellbeing | Knox
