Join us for a meaningful and engaging conversation and hear inspiring stories about resilience, recovery, and the power of community connection from lived experience advocates. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is observed globally in June each year to highlight one of the most overlooked and hidden issues in our communities: the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older people. Elder abuse affects millions of people globally and often goes unnoticed or unreported.

Knox City Council is committed to helping our community to live free from abuse, with support, dignity, and inclusion.

In partnership with EACH and Eastern Community Legal Centre, this event will raise awareness of elder abuse and gambling harm through storytelling and open dialogue.

This is an event for over 55’s, their family members and other people who support our community across Knox, and will include:

  • Short films from the ‘Three Sides of the Coin’ theatre project
  • A Q&A with lived experience advocates
  • Information from Eastern Community Legal Centre and EACH
  • A morning tea to come together and spark conversations

Please note: There is no pre-allocated seating for this event. Morning tea will include tea, coffee and light refreshments.
