- Knox Senior Winter Warmer Movie Sessions
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering community connection, come along to the free Knox Seniors Winter Warmer movie sessions this winter.
This four-part film series is designed to bring people together and maintain connections during our winter season. Each session provides an opportunity not only to enjoy a wonderful movie but also to learn more about the wide range of programs and services Council has available for our residents.
All sessions will be held at the Knox Community Arts Centre, 790 Mountain Hwy, Bayswater.

Thelma – Friday 13 June, 11am
In support of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), join us for a free movie screening of Thelma. Come together to raise awareness, spark conversation, and enjoy this heartwarming film as we follow Thelma Post, a spirited 93-year-old widow who, after falling victim to a phone scam, embarks on a daring quest to reclaim her stolen money. Prior to the movie, join Paul Were (Managing Lawyer at Eastern Community Legal Centre) and Ray Baird (Knox resident, elder abuse survivor and advocate) for a brief presentation.
Is Anybody There? - Monday, 23 June - 1.30pm
Is a heartwarming film about an unlikely friendship between a curious boy and a retired magician, starring Michael Caine in a moving performance. The story explores life, loss, and the power of connection. Prior to the movie, there will be a short presentation by resident Linda Black about Ageism in our community.
June Again - Wednesday, 2 July – 1pm
In this heartfelt Australian drama, June Again tells the touching story of June Wilton, who unexpectedly regains her memory after years of living with dementia. With a second chance at life, June sets out to reconnect with her adult children and rekindle the spark in her family’s life, with humour, honesty, and a whole lot of heart. Prior to the movie, there will be a short presentation by Jia Xu, Knox City Council’s Healthy Ageing Specialist on the Knox Dementia Alliance.
Penguin Bloom - Thursday, 31 July – 1pm
Penguin Bloom is an Australian film, based on the true story of Sam Bloom, who finds hope after an accident through an injured magpie named Penguin. The film celebrates resilience, family, and unexpected friendships. Prior to the movie, there will be a short presentation by the Knox Disability Advisory Committee.
