Family violence is never acceptable

We all deserve to be safe, respected and valued in our relationships. No matter what form family violence takes, it is never acceptable.

In recognition of Are You Safe at Home? Day held on the 10 May, Knox City Council in partnership with Monash and Maroondah Councils delivered a free online webinar called Know your rights - navigating family violence supports on Wednesday 14 May 2025.

You can now watch the recording of the webinar via the below link. The webinar host Jane Gilmore, was joined by a panel of experts from Eastern Community Legal Centre, InTouch and FVREE (Free From Violence). Jane and the panelists explored the rights of victim survivors of family violence and how to navigate and engage with support services, including legal, housing, financial and recovery.

The webinar also detailed and discussed what family violence is, victim misidentification, services for migrant and refugee communities, and what to expect when engaging with these services.

Please note this webinar is recommended for those aged 18 years and over.

If you are feeling unsafe, or you are worried about someone you know may be experiencing family violence, help and support is available. Visit www.knox.vic.gov.au/familyviolencesupport
