The transition to new recycling lids is now in full swing

From 20 July, we started the process of changing over 60,000 recycling lids in Knox from blue to yellow to meet new state government rules. With the community’s support, we have changed 12,670 so far, averaging 1900 per day.

With more recycling bin lids left to swap, the rollout will continue over the coming months. The majority of lid changes are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

If you haven’t got your new lid, here’s a reminder of what you need to do and what to expect.

What to do

Leave your recycling bin out until 6pm on your usual recycling collection day so your lid can be changed. Keep doing this every fortnight until you get your new yellow lid.

What to expect

Trucks changing your lid will be different from the one that collects your recycling, therefore leave your bin out until 6pm, even if it has been emptied earlier in the day.

There is no need to let us know if your recycling lid hasn’t been changed straight away or if your neighbours has and yours hasn’t, we will get to you.

If you haven’t received your new recycling bin lid by 1 February, let us know.
