- Kindergarten Makeover
Children and families are the beneficiaries of a $1.27 million upgrade to Eildon Parade Kindergarten in Rowville.
The former long day care centre was renovated to provide a new children and family centre that is better equipped to meet the current needs of the community.
Having playgroup and kindergarten, with the ability to have babies right through to five year olds in the same space, means children can remain at the same centre through their formative years in early childhood education.
The renovation includes a large veranda connecting indoor and outdoor play spaces and provides better access for children of all abilities.
Many of the outdoor areas have sensory elements to engage children in play and help them develop confidence and independent learning.
As part of Council’s commitment to creating a sustainable municipality, solar panels will power the entire, all-electric site and sensor lights have been fitted throughout to further reduce energy use.
Water tanks will recycle stormwater for the toilets and the children’s outdoor water play activities.
Raingardens have been created to capture water and large trees have been retained to provide natural habitat for local wildlife.
