- Respect Is... Knowing That You Can Help Prevent Violence Against Women
Violence against women and girls, including family violence, is a serious and widespread problem in Australia. It can happen to anyone in our community, no matter their age, gender, income or cultural status.
Family Violence can take many forms including:
- Physical or sexual abuse
- Controlling behaviour such as limiting access to family and friends
- Limiting or restricting access to money
- Psychological and emotional abuse
- Using text message, email, social media or a tracking a device to threaten or control; and
- Travel visa abuse.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can all play a role in preventing family violence.
Would you like to know more? Come along to ‘Start the Conversation – Family Violence Prevention is everyone’s business’ on Tuesday 3 December from 7:30 pm - 9 pm.
‘Start the Conversation’ is a free webinar delivered in partnership with Monash and Maroondah Council’s. Our host, Patricia Karvelas will be joined by a panel of experts to explore the impacts of family violence, what you can do to help prevent it, and the supports available. Book here
