We Belong: stories that strengthen community connection

International Day of People with Disability (3 December), is an internationally recognised day that aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

In the City of Knox, approximately 28,000 people have a disability, which is one in five residents.

This year, we are proudly partnering with Belonging Matters to celebrate and share stories of how people with disabilities have become included in their communities by contributing their interests, passions and gifts – leading to rich and diverse connections and friendships. This workshop will also provide practical strategies on how to become and active and connected member of your community.

We don’t need a special program to foster social connections - it begins with a vision that we all belong together.

This workshop is open to those who have a disability, their families and allies and interested community members and professionals. Preference will be given to people who live, learn and recreate in City of Knox.

  • When: Wednesday 26 November
  • Time: 10am – 1pm
  • Where: Carrington Park Leisure Centre, 20 O’Connor Rd, Knoxfield
  • Free

A light lunch will also be included. The venue is fully accessible but please indicate any alternative formats or other reasonable adjustments when you register online.

Registrations essential.
