Care for carers

Within Knox, there are over 17,000 unpaid carers who provide support for people living with disability, older people, people living with mental illness and those with ongoing medical conditions. 

In celebration of National Carers Week next month (11 October – 17 October), Council will be running two free events for carers who live or work in Knox to attend. 

 

Self-Compassion, A Soft Place to Land 

In partnership with EACH (Family Relationship Support for Carers), a session by Jen Thompson, will focus on how to bring moments of respite to your daily life and make time for your own needs. 

Jen is a psychotherapist who follows the principles of Gestalt and Hakomi, and works in the areas of trauma, addiction and mental health, with a special interest in supporting carers and family members.

  • Time: 10.30am – 12:30pm

Bus trip to Yarra Glen 

Come and explore the beautiful Alowyn Gardens as you relax, spend time with other unpaid carers and enjoy a self-guided tour of the beautiful setting. 

  • When: Monday 19 October 
  • Time:10.30am – 3.30pm 
  • Where: Departing from Knox Community Arts Centre, Bayswater
