A friendly reminder to register your pet

Keeping your pet’s registration up to date helps Council reunite lost dogs and cats with their owners.

Under the Domestic Animals Act 1994, all pets over 3 months old must be microchipped and registered with Council.

Registration renewals are due by 10 April each year.

Some of the benefits of pet registration are that it helps Council reunite lost pets with their owners and supports important community services like:

  • Animal management staff to support the collection and return of stray animals to owners
  • Investigating animal cruelty and dog attack reports
  • After hours animal collection service
  • Our annual Pets in the Park event

Knox is home to about 16,640 registered dogs and 6,482 registered cats.

Pets registered with Council can be quickly and safely reunited with their owners if they wander off or become lost.

Keeping your contact details up to date also helps Council get your pet home faster.

Pet owners can help keep dogs and cats safe by checking their details are up to date when you renew your pet registration.
