- New Way To Renew Your Pet’s Registration
Knox residents now have the choice to go paperless and receive their pet registration renewal notice by email.
Council is offering a convenient new choice for residents to receive their Animal Registration Renewal Notice by email, with a new option of receiving eNotices. Notices can be sent to your nominated email address.
Residents may still continue to receive paper forms if they prefer.
All cats and dogs over three months old must be microchipped and registered with Council. Pet owners must also ensure that they renew their pet’s registration by 10 April each year. This makes it easier for us to quickly reunite your pet with you if they get lost or wander away.
Pet owners can help keep dogs and cats safe by checking your details are up to date when you renew your pet registration.
Knox has about 24,000 registered pet owners. Choosing to receive your renewal eNotice by email not only reduces paper waste but enables you to access and manage your pet registration renewal online at anytime from anywhere.
Sadly, a high percentage of lost cats and dogs don’t get reunited with their owners. Only 13 per cent of cats, and 75 per cent of dogs that end up at Council’s pound are reunited with their owners. We highly encourage pet owners to register and microchip their pets to help ensure their lost pets can be returned safely and quickly.
Pet registration also supports a range of community services, including:
- 24/7 after hours animal collection and urgent response service
- investigating animal cruelty and dog attack reports
- responding to animal related customer requests
- reuniting registered pets
- dog play parks
- our annual Pets in the Park event, this year on Sunday 6 April from 10am-4pm at Knox Park, Knoxfield
Pet registration renewals are due on 10 April.
Sign-up to eNotices for pet registration or find out more by visiting our Register my pet or renew registration web page or calling 9298 8000.
