Unlock your business’ potential with KnoxBiz

When Rebecca walked into Knox Biz’s International Women’s Day event earlier this year, she wasn't looking to make a quick sale. As the Product and Business Development Manager for Y Services, her goal was simple: build genuine local connections.

That mindset turned relaxed table conversations into major long-term contracts right here in Knox. Traditional networking rooms can feel intimidating, but Rebecca found the KnoxBiz setup refreshingly different.

"I particularly liked being seated at a table with a small group of people," Rebecca says. "Rather than having to walk around a crowded room, the table setting made networking feel much more comfortable and less intimidating. It gave everyone the chance to share what they do and find common interests without feeling rushed."

It was at one of these tables that Rebecca struck up a conversation with a fellow attendee. The chat wasn't a sales pitch, it was two professionals discussing their roles and the communities they serve. They quickly realised they shared a common bond, they both worked for not-for-profit organisations driven by community purposes.

By focusing on shared values rather than selling, a natural partnership flourished. Today, Y Services serves as the single source supplier for that organization's uniforms and merchandise.

Proving networking success often happens outside the event room, Rebecca followed up with Knox City Council to see if they had any uniform needs. While Council didn't at the time, the team referred her to Your Library.

That single call turned referral opened a brand-new door. Today, Y Services is the proud uniform supplier for Your Library, too.

"It’s a great reminder that networking isn’t always about securing business directly from the people you meet," says Rebecca. "Sometimes it’s about building relationships that lead to unexpected opportunities down the track."

Rebecca proves that you never know who you'll meet or what opportunities may come from simply attending a networking event.

Your next opportunity could be just one conversation away. Join us at an upcoming KnoxBiz workshop or networking event and start writing your own local success story.
