Knox Factor is a talent competition for aspiring vocalists from 5 years to 25 years of age, who either live, study, work or play within Knox.

Unlike other years, this year each contestant will be assigned an experienced mentor, to support and guide them through each round of the competition.

IMPORTANT: Knox Factor will operate strictly alongside Covid-19 regulations as either live events or live recordings, depending on the current restrictions.

Emma Austin

5-11 Age Category
Emma is a teacher and performer who completed her Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) at the Federation University Arts Academy (BAPA) and her Master of Teaching (Primary and Secondary) at Deakin University. She is currently the Head of Instrumental and Voice at Forte School of Music Wantirna, teaching both classroom music and private voice students.

Emma's recent performance credits include Box and Cox (Maniacal Arts), The Zooperhero's Quest to Find the Orange Bellied Parrot (Zoos Victoria), Into the Woods (Federation University), Box and Cox: Married and Settled (Maniacal Arts), Taming of the Shrew (Melbourne Shakespeare Company), Ulysses (Bloomsday Melbourne) and As You Like It (Melbourne Shakespeare Company).

Clare Assetta

12-15 Age Category
Owner and Principal Voice and Performance Coach - Freedom Music Studios.

Clare is the driving force behind Freedom Music Studios. Her personality, experience and passion for the industry make her a highly sought after vocal instructor. Clare has spent the past 25 years studying the art of Vocal Production. She has gained an extensive set of qualifications including a Bachelor of Science majoring in anatomy and physiology and a Diploma of Education, both from The University of Melbourne. Clare has worked hard over the past 15 years to achieve her ranking as a certified Level 3 singing teacher with the Institute of Vocal Advancement and has completed The Estill Compulsory Figures for Voice Control course four times.

Clare remains an active performer in the entertainment industry. She performs multiple gigs per week at venues, corporate functions and weddings. Clare's mission is to provide as many students as possible with the skills required to ensure that they may have long and successful careers whilst singing and performing to their maximum potential!

Andrea Cobern

16-25 Age Category
Founder of ASV Academy, which is based in Ferntree Gully and now with 5 more studios open in Melbourne.

Andrea has been involved in the music industry for over 30 years, she is a gifted singer, as well as a vocal and music performance coach, entertainment mentor, and businesswoman.

Andrea's own singing career stems far and wide, with both national and international appearances across television, radio, cabaret, corporate and private functions, as well as performing with bands for live gigs, and recordings with some of Australia’s finest.

Andrea's primary focus is on developing and encouraging local performers. She has recently teamed up with a record label providing even more opportunities for local artists.

Andrea works in multiple recording studios as a harmony and vocal specialist, guiding artists toward single releases.

Andrea works with performers of all ages, from across the local area and surrounding districts, bringing them together to learn, rehearse, develop, and perform. She has trained artists to become teachers, professional recording artists, songwriters, and more.

Andrea was awarded the Knox 2019 Citizen of the year, and she is a keen member of the Knox City Council Arts Advisory Committee.

Andrea has been a key creative partner for Knox City Council’s events and programs for a number of years.
