Help put Knox birds on the map

Grab your binoculars and look to the skies because the Aussie Bird Count is back from Monday 19 to Sunday 25 October 2026.

Hosted by BirdLife Australia, the annual count invites people across the country to spend just 20 minutes observing and counting the birds in their backyard, local park or favourite outdoor space.

It’s a great opportunity to discover the birdlife living around Knox while helping build a national snapshot of where different bird species are found.

Taking part is easy. Simply choose a spot outdoors, spend 20 minutes counting the birds you see and submit your results online or through the BirdCount app.

Not sure which feathered friend you’ve spotted? The app includes a handy bird finder to help identify different species.

Last year, more than 63,000 people counted over 5 million birds across Australia in just one week.

Whether you’re an experienced birdwatcher or simply curious about the wildlife in your neighbourhood, everyone can get involved.

Ready to start spotting? Visit the Aussie Bird Count website to learn more, download the app and submit your count.
