Funding provided to 51 community groups

This year, 51 community organisations have been awarded funding through Knox City Council’s Community Development Fund, with a total of $373,512.10 allocated to support a wide variety of initiatives across the municipality.

The funded projects reflect the diversity and vibrancy of the Knox community, ranging from cultural festivals and environmental initiatives to programs that support older residents and strengthen grassroots sports clubs. These projects have been captured within our new funding categories, which are:

Active Ageing – promoting health, wellbeing, and social connection for older residents, while encouraging intergenerational engagement.

Community Strengthening – delivering responsive programs and services that meet local needs and create lasting benefits for Knox residents.

Cultural Celebrations and Community Events – supporting small-scale events that foster cultural awareness and inclusion.

Arts and Events – enabling large festivals and creative activities that showcase local talent and engage the wider community.

Environment and Sustainability – enhancing biodiversity and environmental outcomes through grassroots initiatives.

Active Communities – building the capacity of sport and leisure clubs to deliver inclusive, equitable, and sustainable programs.

Small Equipment Grants – providing essential equipment to help organisations operate more effectively and sustainably.

Applications were assessed by a judging panel using a weighted criteria framework to ensure transparency and alignment with Council priorities. The assessment criteria considered the project's relevance to community needs, the organisation’s ability to deliver, financial viability, the benefit to Knox residents, and the extent of collaboration with others.

One of the successful grant recipients is the Uttar Pradesh Association of Australia who received a grant to host a festival that celebrates India’s culture in Knox, strengthening community bonds, promoting diversity, and supporting long-term Australia–India cultural understanding and relationships.

President Dr Santosh Kumar Yadava shared “The Council grant helps our association showcase multicultural diversity by bringing various groups to celebrate our festival and Indian Independence Day celebrations”.

Knox City Council extends its congratulations to all successful applicants and looks forward to seeing the positive impact of their projects in the year ahead.
