Nature Stewards is back in 2026!

Are you curious about the flora and fauna around you? Do you want to know how you can support biodiversity and climate resilience? Join the 2026 Knox Nature Stewards Program. 

The 10-week program running between May and July invites you to discover more about the natural environment around you. 

Whilst immersed in nature, participants can attend lectures and field trips guided by experts, land managers, and local environmental champions. The program will include the following topics:

  • Ecology and ecosystems
  • Indigenous cultures and places including ways to care for Country
  • Geology and soils
  • Flora, fungi and fauna
  • Waterways and water life
  • Seasons, climate and fire ecology, and;
  • How to become a citizen scientist, conservation volunteer, or nature guide.

When

  • Saturday 2 May 2026 – Saturday 11 July 2026 (excluding public holiday weekends – 6 June 2026)
  • Typical classes run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and there will be 4-6 field trips (3 hours length) held in the afternoons after class throughout the course.

Cost

$350 full fee, $175 Concession

The program is open to those 18 years and over and will suit anyone with an interest in local biodiversity, a passion for sharing knowledge, and desire to gain a deeper connection to nature.  

Register by Sunday 19 April to learn about your local environment, meet like-minded people, and find ways to get outdoors and volunteer!
