Our volunteers need your help

Environmental volunteering refers to an individual or group's contribution of time, expertise, or funds towards activities that protect the natural environment and foster sustainability in the community - without financial compensation.

Across Victoria, more than 2,000 groups participate in environmental volunteering. Their collective efforts have a significant impact, contributing to the conservation and enhancement of diverse ecosystems across the state.

Environmental volunteering can take the form of on-ground conservation projects (such as targeted weed control, revegetation, and habitat restoration), advocacy for better biodiversity outcomes, education, and research. The primary beneficiaries of volunteering are the organisms (fungi, flora and fauna), ecosystems, and communities.

In 2024, the Knox environmental volunteering network recorded close to 20,000 hours of work on ground, delivering education and biodiversity projects, and applying for grants. This Biodiversity Month, they need your help!
