We are recognising the significant impact volunteers have in our community with our Knox Community Awards.

The Awards are an important way to show we value and appreciate the important work that volunteers do in many different areas, including supporting those in need and helping important causes.

Knox Volunteer of the Year

For a volunteer:

Who has made a difference to the Knox community through their volunteer efforts
Whose service is over and above the contributions of other volunteers.

Knox Volunteer of the Year - Special Honour

The Committee may also present up to five Special Honour awards to volunteers whose contribution is outstanding and deserving of formal recognition.

Knox Community Organisation of the Year

For community organisations, clubs or groups whose service is over and above the contribution of other community organisations in improving the lives of the Knox community. Nominees must be not-for-profit community organisations or groups who have made a significant contribution to the Knox community.

Community groups may be nominated for a specific project or event undertaken in the last 12 months that demonstrates a positive impact to the Knox community.

Recognition of Years of Service

Council will also recognise volunteers who have provided continuous volunteer service to a community organisation that benefits the Knox community. Local community organisations are invited to recognise their volunteers who have provided services to the Knox community for the following time periods:

10 years+ of service
20 years+ of service
30 years+ of service
40 years+ of service

2026 award recipients

We celebrated and announced the award recipients during National Volunteer Week in May 2026.

The 2026 Knox Community Award recipients are:

Volunteer of the Year: Richard Faragher
Community Organisation of the Year: Foothills Community Care
Outstanding Volunteer Services: Eddie Atacador, Rob Bloye, Brooke Junginger, Christine Pow and Kristian Schouten.

2025 award recipients

We celebrated and announced the award recipients during National Volunteer Week in May 2025.

The 2025 Knox Community Award recipients are:

Volunteer of the Year: Irene Smith
Community Organisation of the Year: Outer Eastern Honorary Justices
Outstanding Volunteer Services: Michael Crofts, Alex Edwards, Robert Heinley, Ruchi Sharma, Ray Siegersma
