About Cr Atwell
Cr Atwell lives in Rowville and is passionate about enhancing community pride in Knox. From increasing access to basic amenities, renewing ageing infrastructure, and investing in our unique open space and network of playgrounds, Cr Atwell believes Council has a crucial role in improving the everyday life of local families.
Cr Atwell is married and has two young boys. In honouring the memory of his daughter Ivy, Cr Atwell continues to advocate passionately for universal access, inclusive design, and more practical support for people with disabilities and their carers.
Cr Atwell served on Stonnington City Council from 2016-2020 and has worked for local, state and federal governments and in higher education throughout his career in corporate affairs and public policy. At age 18, his first job was as a sports journalist for a community newspaper, and he currently works at a university.
His vision
Cr Atwell aims to:
- enhance community pride and the everyday lives of residents by investing in smart services and quality infrastructure
- build playgrounds and parks that are the envy of neighbouring municipalities
- embed universal access and genuinely inclusive design in Council projects
- advocate for people with disabilities and their carers
- listen to the community’s views and strongly represent the voices of residents.
