We have made steady progress to reduce our carbon emissions.
Compared to last financial year 2022 to 2023, we have reduced our emissions by 5.8% (508 tonnes of CO2 equivalent) to 8,163 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
This is equivalent to removing more than 200 passenger cars off the road for one year.
In the past 12 months we have:
- Replaced approximately 500 streetlights to LED on major roads and intersections in Boronia
- installed 6 public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations
- planted 21,000 plants to enhance and restore habitat corridors
- installed 198kW of rooftop solar and 82kWh of batteries across Council sites
- invited local businesses to join a renewable buying group, through the promotion of webinars outlining the program
- completed Knox City Council’s first 4-star Greenstar accredited building at the Knox Regional Netball Centre
