We monitor our social media channels from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, not including public holidays.
Social media house rules
By posting or using Knox City Council’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) you are accepting our social media house rules.
We encourage you to ask questions, have discussions and share your thoughts. We will answer your questions when we can. You are welcome to share your opinions and engage in debate as long as you are respectful of others.
To ensure our channels are a welcoming and safe place for everyone, we will delete comments that break these house rules.
- Do not post personal or confidential information whether it be yours or someone else's including addresses and phone numbers. If you need to send us personal or sensitive information, please send it via direct message. This includes images and video that identifies a property or vehicle.
- Do not post or upload any indecent, defamatory, obscene, misleading, slanderous or unlawful material about Knox City Council, its services or its people, or that violates the legal rights of others. This includes personal or sensitive information about Councillors or staff.
- Do not post comments that are defamatory, abusive, threatening or offensive.
- Do not bully or harass anyone.
- Do not post discriminatory comments, relating to race, gender identity, sex, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
- Do not troll or have deliberately disruptive conversations.
- Stay on topic. Comments must relate to the original post. Repetitive messaging will be deleted.
- Do not promote commercial interests.
- Do not post material that may breach the intellectual property rights of others.
- Do not post malicious software or files, or indecent or graphic images.
- Do not spread misinformation or post comments that are inaccurate or misleading.
- Do not violate Meta's Terms of Use.
Any posts or comments that break these rules will be deleted.
If you have breached the house rules, we will, where possible, contact you and explain the reasoning behind the decision.
Bans
Continuous breaching of our house rules may lead to a ban.
If your account has been banned and you would like a review, please contact us.
Direct messages
Our customer service team respond to direct messages via Messenger between 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, not including public holidays.
If you contact us by Messenger, we will acknowledge your message within 1 business day.
To protect your privacy, only share the following via direct message:
- email addresses
- phone numbers
- addresses
- photos or videos that identify property or vehicles.
Opinions and accuracy of information
Comments on our social media channels do not represent the opinions of Knox City Council nor can we confirm their accuracy.
Local businesses
From time to time, Knox Council may mention or tag a local business or organisation on our social media channels. This is not to be viewed as a formal endorsement in any way and does not necessarily mean Council has a partnership or sponsorship agreement with that business.
