Purpose
The Knox Arts and Culture Committee provides Council with advice on issues relating to Knox Arts and Cultural Services, communicating the current and future needs, interests and trends that impact local arts and cultural service provision.
With a strategic context, the committee helps guide optimal service provision and participation in the arts and is a strong advocate for arts and culture as a key aspect of a community’s health and wellbeing.
The group also provides a dynamic platform for creative industry networking, engagement and partnership opportunities.

Membership - Expression of interest now open
The Knox Arts and Culture Committee is currently seeking new community and industry representatives for a period of two years, from September 2025 to September 2027 who have an interest and knowledge of:
- Arts and Cultural activities within Knox, including services, events, venues, programs and initiatives offered through Council, Community and local Businesses;
- A specialist field such as Arts and Cultural Development, Placemaking, Cultural Tourism, Arts Marketing, Community Engagement, Creative Industry Development, Arts Funding or Creative Arts Practice; and
- Local social, cultural and economic factors impacting the wider Knox community.
The committee meets approximately every three months with a minimum of four meetings per year, including some email exchange.
The following voluntary positions are available:
- 8 community members (eg resident, artist, community group representative)
- 4 industry members (eg private or public sector Arts and Culture industry professionals)
Selection criteria
- Live, work or study in Knox, or regularly participate in Knox Arts and Cultural activities;
- Demonstrate an interest and knowledge of Arts and Cultural activities within Knox;
- Contribute specialist skills and experience in one or more areas of Arts and Culture; and
- Offer insight into the social, cultural, environmental and economic factors impacting the wider Knox community and how these may influence local arts and cultural services.

Applications are reviewed by a panel, who may request an interview with applicants.
Current members of the committee are eligible where they have not exceeded 4 years of continuous membership at time of submission.
