Customer service
Our customer service centre is closed on all public holidays and have adjusted times over the Christmas and New Year period.
We will confirm these adjusted times and share them as soon as possible.
Calls to 9298 8000 outside of our operating hours will be automatically transferred to our emergency out-of-hours service.
Online services
You can still access many of our services online, including:
- make payments for rates, permits, fines and invoices
- book a hard rubbish collection
- report a missed bin collection
- report a damaged bin
- report a stolen or missing bin.
However, any reports or bookings will not be actioned on public holidays.

Waste services
Household bin collection
Your bins will be collected as normal on public holidays and over the Christmas and New Year period.
To confirm your collection days, use the find my bin day tool.

Household bin repairs, replacements and missed bins
We do not do household bin repairs and replacements, or missed bin collections on public holidays. We will schedule these requests for the next business day.
Hard rubbish collection
We do not collect hard rubbish on weekends or public holidays.
Our hard rubbish collection has adjusted times over the Christmas and New Year period.
We will confirm these adjusted times and share them as soon as possible.
Knox Transfer and Recycling Facility

Arts and library services
Community arts centres
Knox Community Arts Centre closes from Christmas Day to Australia Day. There is reduced phone and email communications from staff during this period.
Ferntree Gully Community Arts Centre and Library close from Christmas Day to Australia Day. There is reduced phone and email communications from staff during this period.
Libraries

Leisure centres
Rowville Community Centre
The centre is closed on public holidays.
It also has reduced operating hours during school holidays:
- Mondays, 9 am to 7.30 pm
- Tuesdays, 9 am to 9.30 pm
- Wednesday to Fridays, 9 am to 3.30 pm.
Over the Christmas and New Year period, the centre is closing on 18 December 2026 and reopening on 4 January 2027.

Knox Leisureworks
The centre is:
- open from 1 pm to 6 pm on ANZAC Day
- open from 5.30 am to 6 pm on Christmas Eve
- closed on Christmas Day
- open from 5.30 am to 6 pm on New Year’s Eve.

The park is open every day.

The course is closed on Christmas Day.

Carrington Park Leisure Centre and Multi-purpose facility
The gym and hall are closed over the Christmas and New Year period.
All other areas of the centre stay open but are closed to all non-regular hirers on public holidays.
All bookings are by appointment only.

Knox Regional Netball Centre
The centre is closed on public holidays. It also has reduced operating hours during school holidays from 9 am to 4 pm.
Over the Christmas and New Year period, the centre is closing on 18 December 2026 and reopening on 4 January 2027.

Heath and recreation services
Maternal and child health services
Our maternal and child health services do not operate on public holidays.
We continue to offer appointments over the school holidays and have reduced services over the Christmas and New Year period. We prioritise appointments for younger babies during this time.

If you need immediate support, information or advice from a qualified maternal and child health nurse, you can contact the Maternal and Child Health hotline on 13 22 29. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Playgroups
Playgroups do not run on public holidays or school holidays.
