Alternative Transport Options - Eastern Suburbs

There are several community transport options for people living in the Knox area in addition to Knox City Council’s Community Transport.  

Community transport alternatives

  • Red Cross Patient Transport Service – A service for people who are isolated and have limited transport options to attend essential medical appointments and social transport needs.

  • St John Ambulance Patient Transport Service - Provides transport services for medical appointments and transfers.

  • Bridges – Connecting People Provide transport services for medical appointments, shopping, banking, senior’s clubs, outings, planned activity groups, library, exercise classes and events.

  • FlexiRide - the successor to the former Telebus, is a new on-demand bus service by Public Transport Victoria in the Rowville area. It operates only when booked. Passengers with accessibility requirements can request a pick up from their door or an agreed accessible location.

  • Eastern Volunteers (EV Community Transport) - Provides volunteer assisted community transport to the frail aged and people with disabilities to attend social outings, medical appointments and other activities.

  • Link Community & Transport – provides many services including transport, from one-on-one assisted transport to outings throughout Victoria.

You can also approach your local church or your club welfare officer. There are also common interest groups such as The Heart Group, the Stroke Support Group or The Puffing Billies established to support people, family and carers with similar experiences.
