Building permit application fees vary depending on the type of project you are undertaking.

Fees for building services are for the assessment, administration and inspection works to issue a building permit. Find out about fees and charges related to building permits and applications below.

Fees are current from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

Domestic building permit applications

A State Government building permit levy is payable if cost of works is over $10,000. This levy is calculated by cost of construction × .00128 (GST not applicable).

All fees except lodgement fee and online application fee may be varied by up to 20% by either the Manager City Planning or Co-ordinator Building Services.

Note 1: Online fees for building permits comprise the $134.40 Lodgement Fee and a flat $900 application fee. There may be other fees and charges applicable depending on the permit type being applied for and these will be invoiced following receipt of your online application.

Occupancy Permits for Public Entertainment

Non statutory fees for 'Occupancy permits' and '5 year Occupany permits' may be varied by up to 20% by either the Manager City Planning or Co-ordinator Building Services. This excludes late lodgement and amendments to permits.

Other information

  • Council’s Asset Protection Inspection Fee of $325 may be applicable depending on the type and cost of works. Contact our Asset Department for more information.
  • Council’s Approval Point of Discharge (APOD) fee is $159.50. Contact our Drainage Department if you require an APOD.
