Ferntree Gully Cemetery Trust

In 1999, the Council appointed the Ferntree Gully Cemetery Trust Committee to oversee the management of the cemetery.

This committee was sunsetted in 2017.

About the Cemetery Trust

Over the years there has been a high level of local interest in being laid to rest at Ferntree Gully, due in part to its beautiful location and rich local history.

In 2000, the Trust bought two blocks of land on the corner of Clematis Avenue and The Glade in order to expand the cemetery and enable the local community to be buried locally.

The Trust carried out a consultation on the development plans for expansion of the cemetery. This provided for an additional 386 plots and 20 vaults for sale as well as detailed beautification and landscape works. All in-ground burial positions have now been sold.

In April 2014, the Trust opened The Grove Niche Walls to provide for ashes interment and memorials.
