Dog attacks

If you are attacked by a dog you should report it to Knox City Council immediately.

Dog attacks are one of the most serious matters facing our community, other animals and Animal Management Officers.

Report the attack

Call us on 9298 8000 immediately. 

Our team will then record and prompt you through the process and any information they need.

We begin investigation into reports of dog attacks in progress immediately. 

A Community Laws Officer is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies like dog attacks.

Process and next steps

Dog attacks and dog aggression represent the highest risk in animal management. As a result, Council treats dog attacks as a priority.

We investigate all reported dog attacks. All dog attacks have the potential to be prosecuted criminally at the Magistrates' Court. 

Council may seize any dog suspected of being involved in a dog attack until the result of the prosecution.
