Knox Regional Sports Park

The Knox Regional Sports Park is the newest sports and recreation centre in Wantirna South.

The 27-hectare site next to EastLink is home to the State Basketball Centre and Knox Regional Football Centre.

Key features

Facilities available include:

  • an indoor sports stadium with six courts, with capacity for up to a 3,200 seat court
  • a full sized soccer pitch and five a side synthetic pitches and soccer pavilion, with public toilets
  • open grassed areas for recreation
  • grassed field and operations area for the Victorian Association of Radio Model Soaring (VARMS)
  • outdoor plaza and forecourt in front of the basketball stadium
  • car parking areas with landscaping
  • groups of mostly native and indigenous trees
  • pathways joining key elements of the reserve to shared trails around the reserve.

Knox Regional Sports Park masterplan

A vision for the future of the Knox Regional Sports Park was endorsed by Council in August 2018.

State Basketball Centre

The State Basketball Centre is the new home of Basketball Victoria and Knox Basketball.

This indoor sports stadium has:

  • 6 basketball courts
  • 2 courts marked for netball
  • a show court with seating for up to 3,200 people
  • meeting rooms
  • a basketball retail store
  • a cafeteria.

The State Basketball Centre hosted the Australian Boomers and Opals basketball teams in pre-Olympic games.

It also held the Knox Raiders in South Eastern Australian Basketball League games and finals.

Knox Regional Football Centre

The Knox Regional Football Centre is the first purpose-built five-a-side outdoor soccer facility in Victoria.

It features:

  • a full-size soccer pitch
  • 9 fully enclosed five-a-side synthetic pitches with lighting
  • a new pavilion with cafe, shop and changerooms
  • plenty of car parking.

It's the home of Football Fives competitions and available for casual hire.

Victorian Association of Radio Model Soaring (VARMS)

VARMS operates from the airfield at the Knox Regional Sports Park.

The airfield consists of a runway and clubhouse, as well as a large gliding field.

VARMS offers training classes with dual controlled gliders for people who'd like to try aerogliding, along with membership packages.
