Don't throw away sharps containers with general or recyclable rubbish, or green waste. Council accepts residents' full sharps containers for appropriate disposal.
Additional containers can be collected from our Customer Service area.
Council aren't licensed for providing a commercial collection for sharps containers.
The commercial organisation that produced the waste must use licensed contractors to dispose of their waste. They are also responsible for making sure the disposal facility is licensed to treat the waste.
Call the 24-hour disposals hotline on 1800 552 355 to find out more.
For more information on sharps disposal generated from commercial use, visit the Environmental Protection Agency.
