Knox Transfer Station & Recycling Facility

Please note that due to the Stage 4 restrictions, the Knox Transfer Station has currently limited operations. Refer to KTS website for latest service updates.

Open 7 days per week
7:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday
8.00am,-1.00pm Saturday,
Closed on Sunday.
Closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Treasure Chest reuse shop is currently closed until further notice due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Items you CAN take to the Knox Transfer Station

  • Tyres
  • Green waste, including weeds, tree prunings and grass clippings
  • Demolition and scrap timber
  • Motor oil, paint and BBQ gas bottles (no commercial quantities)
  • Domestic hard waste
  • Household items and fence palings
  • Mattresses
  • Earth, soil and rubble (no commercial quantities).
  • X-Ray Film

What you CAN'T take to the Knox Transfer Station & Recycling Facility

  • Food scraps
  • Household rubbish
  • Hazardous or chemical waste
  • Asbestos (renovation debris from homes built prior to 1984 is likely to contain asbestos)
  • Contaminated soil
  • Liquids (except motor oil and paints)
  • Gas Bottles other than BBQ gas bottles

What can I recycle?

  • glass bottles and jars
  • aluminium/steel cans
  • plastic containers with codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7
  • office paper, cardboard (excluding waxed cardboard boxes) and newspapers
  • ferrous and non ferrous metals
  • car batteries- (free to drop off)
  • undamaged televisions, computers and computer equipment

Charges may apply for some items that you want to recycle.

Fees at the Knox Transfer Station & Recycling Facility

Fees for cars/trailers containing hard or green waste are calculated per cubic metre. However, vehicles with heavy waste may asked to pay per tonne.

For commercial loads (trucks and tandem trailers), fees are calculated per tonne.

The volume of loads will be determined by gate attendant.
