In 2024, the National Centre for Monitoring Dementia estimates over 421,000 people live with dementia in Australia.
In Knox, there are 2,787 people living with dementia. This is estimated to increase by 148% over the next 35 years.

Dementia Friendly Communities Program
We have partnered with Dementia Australia to put in place a Dementia Friendly Communities Program in Knox.
The program aims to build awareness, understanding and acceptance of dementia, so people living with dementia can continue to participate and remain active in the community.

Rewire - The Haven Choir
A singing choir for people living with dementia, and their loved ones.
Do you love to sing? Knox's exciting new singing choir is currently running in Boronia.
No experience with a choir is necessary. The choir is facilitated by music therapists.
The Haven Choir runs 10 sessions every term, with weekly sessions on Monday. If Monday happens to be a public holiday, the session will move to the following Monday.
Time: 9:45 am to 11:30 am
Where: Church Hall, 17-19 Falconer Road Boronia 3155
Cost: $5 per person per session / $48 per term

Knox Dementia Alliance
The Knox Dementia Alliance is a community-driven initiative established by Knox City Council. It brings together individuals, groups and professionals to help reduce stigma, raise awareness, and ensure that community members affected by dementia remain visible, valued, and included in everyday community life.
The Alliance operates alongside a Terms of Reference.
The Alliance is currently welcoming expressions of interest. This includes people of all ages living with dementia, carers, community organisations, local businesses, and service providers who are passionate about making Knox a place where no one faces dementia alone.
By joining, members can help shape projects, share lived experience, and participate in community-wide action to build a more supportive and accessible environment for everyone.
