Food services

Knox City Council Food Services provide meals for people who have difficulty preparing or shopping for food, or where a person needs additional support to access nutritious food.

This service is also known as Meals on Wheels.

About food services

All meals are nutritionally balanced and we can cater for people with special dietary needs or allergies. The menu offers a range of choices including:

  • 2-course meal (soup and main or main and dessert)
  • 3-course meal (soup, main and dessert)

Meals can be delivered as fresh and ready to eat, or frozen for future use.

Volunteers

Our meals are delivered by our lovely volunteers.

We welcome more volunteers to help with meal deliveries.

If you would like to help and have some time available between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on a weekday, call our Food Services team on 9298 8762.

Fees

Fees for these services are based on the household income and vary for each service/resident. Fees will be discussed with you before any service is provided.

No payment is needed on the day of service – we send you an account every 4 weeks.

Access these services

You can access these services via My Aged Care.

Call them on 1800 200 422 and they will assess your eligibility over the phone and/or organise an in-home assessment.

Advocacy

Residents can nominate a trusted person, friend or family member, or a professional to act on their behalf when they feel unable to express their views independently.
